Electronic Component News (ECN) announced today the winners of this year’s Impact Awards program, which recognizes design excellence in nearly fourteen categories, including special recognition categories. While winners know they placed on the list this year, each company will learn its respective ranking (First, Second, and Third Place) in each category at a dinner and awards event, Sunday, October 22, 2017, 7-9 pm, at the Loews Chicago O’Hare Hotel, coinciding with the ECIA Executive Conference.

Now in its fifth year, the ECN Impact Awards’ new program provides an opportunity for more companies to be recognized, based on the increased number of submissions each year and on feedback from previous years’ winners requesting a live event format. This year’s awards program also delivers an element of surprise, as winning companies will know that their organizations have placed but will not know their ranking within a category until the live event.

“We are thrilled to enhance this year’s program, as it better reflects our industry’s ongoing excellence and increases the number of winners year over year,” said Joyceann Garippa, editorial director of the Design Engineering and Manufacturing Groups at Advantage Business Media, which includes ECN. “We can’t wait to reveal this year’s rankings at the live event and fete each company.”

Winners shown here are in alphabetical order within the respective categories, including: Analog & Mixed Signal ICs; Boards, Modules & Embedded Systems; Cooling & Thermal Management; Electromechanical/Mechanical Devices; Microwave & RF; Optoelectronics; Packaging, Interconnects & Enclosures; Passive Components & Discrete Semiconductors; Power Sources & Conditioning Devices; Sensors; Software Design; Test & Measurement; Medical Device Design; and Rapid Prototyping.

In addition to these categories, Special Recognition awards will be given in the areas of Market Disruptor and Contract Manufacturer. Only one winner was chosen for these categories. The Impact Awards were judged by outside companies relevant to the industry in addition to ECN editorial staff and contributing writer Paul Pickering.
